Associate Professor Michael Slack is one of Australia’s leading heritage consultants. He has provided advice, expertise and review for some of the most significant issues and projects in Cultural Heritage including working closely with the PKKP on the Juukan Gorge excavations and now with heritage assessment negotiations with PKKP and RTIO. As President of the Australian Archaeological Association (2017-2019) and now Vice-President, and as a sitting member of the WA Aboriginal Cultural Materials Committee (ACMC) over the last two years, Michael has regularly led the agenda for better regulation and standards in Cultural Heritage assessment and protection.
Scarp Archaeology is also the only heritage industry partner in the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (ARC CABAH), which provides the support of a unique network of specialist experts from science, technology, earth and climate sciences, ecology and genetics, and Indigenous studies to unravel the extraordinary First Nations History of Australia. This provides a level of expertise above and beyond what other heritage providers can offer.
