I am an Independent Public Historian, with over 25 years’ experience consulting in public and private practice in Western Australia, New South Wales and Norfolk Island. I am a casual UWA research academic, and also involved with several community-based historical and heritage societies.

2. Writing statements of significance and heritage criteria assessments
3. Comparative studies of like-for-like heritage places to determine levels of significance
4. Reading and assessing the historical development of cultural landscapes
5. Place name histories, and histories and heritage assessments using place names as primary sources
6. Histories and heritage assessments of heraldic and other civic and corporate symbols and emblems
7. Histories and heritage assessments for convict system places and networks
8. Histories and heritage assessments for natures reserves, commons, Crown reserves and other public lands

I have prepared, partially or wholly, over 30 conservation management plans for heritage items large and small, and have reviewed many more for editorial, content verification, adoption or Heritage Council of NSW endorsement purposes.
